Summer Variety 2016 – It’s Showtime

And what a show it was, with so many positives from the audiences, this was a fast and slick show with some brilliant numbers, especially those performed by our “Kids”. This year for the first time saw us using three flats on each side of the stage, so no moving curtains to distract the audience, and by using the flats it seemed that the stage was twice its normal size.

This was the first year that we have given two performances on two separate Saturday’s and cut out the Friday nights, this meant two matinees which is what our patrons seemed to want. So we turned the Chamberlayne Suite into a night club, with tables of 8, tablecloths and candles, which all looked very impressive.

Special thanks must go to Kay and Kevin Warne, Kevin who produced and directed the show and Kay who amassed and made the majority of our costumes, which were very colourful and quite outlandish at times. All in all a brilliant show all round. Well done everybody, from the stage, front of house, stage hands and the lighting and sound technicians

Daily Echo Review

Shows like this give every member the stage to entertain their local community, with all four groups contributing to the 31 numbers.

The Children were delightfully endearing and confident in delivering favourites from Annie and Oliver, additionally; Eleanor Watts held the audience spellbound during her “ les miserable’s” solo. The standout numbers from the young Adults featured Sarah Bishop and Holly Williams with their Chicago excerpt a highlight, as was Beth Warne’s solo from Grease. Nicky Willaims and Barbara Hancox combined well for the Ladies on “Sisters” and later when Nicky Willaims joined Paula Crosskeys and Barbara Thomas for Abba’s Supertrooper. The men played a lesser part but closed the first half in comic style with their Full Monty number.

Terry Revell linked the show and credit is due to Kay Warne for the numerous quick change costumes.
